Chemuyil Mexico Travel Information

CHEMUYIL MEXICO

map to chemuyil Chemuyil is a small Mayan village located about 5 km. south of Akumal. The village is home to many locals who work in Akumal and the surrounding areas.

Chemuyil is not on the tourist map really, but it is the closest town to Xcacel Beach. You will find mini-supers and restaurants [Leo's Pizza and La Palapa] in town.

There is a small subdivision next to town that was created as a Government project but the homes never sold and have since gone on the market for anyone wishing to purchase.

There are vacation properties available to rent.

You can visit the Cenote Xunaan-Ha which is located down a windy road just a short walk outside of the town. You can swim in the cenote and it is breathtakingly beautiful. It costs $3 for adults and $1.50 for kids.

Little Seamstress
Once upon a time, there was a little seamstress who sewed mightily on his sewing machine. The other machines in his neighborhood laughed at him, and shouted: "Fairy! Only old women are streamstresses!" So the little seamstress sewed shut the mouths of everyone who made fun of him. That is why, to this day, we do not know how the story ended, because no one could tell it.

The Mexican name for the Atlantic coastal region of the Yucatan Peninsula is Riviera Maya. The English use is either Maya Riviera or Mayan Riviera. It is used all three ways in this web site.
