Description:
Calakmul reached its zenith between A.D. 500 and 850 and was one of the greatest cities in Mesoamerica. It was an important regional capital during the Early Classic period and boasts one of the largest if not largest structures in the Maya world.
Of Interest:
A 1,200 year old mummy was found in a tomb at Calakmul.
