| Ek Balam was inhabited as early as 400 B.C. and up to Colonial times. The
name means "star jaguar".
The Acropolis temple is more than twice the size of the Castle at Chichen with tunnels inside the Acropolis leading to tombs. There are life size statues similar to ones found in Palenque. | |
