SAN GERVASIO

Description:	San Gervasio is located on the north end of Cozumel Island and is the largest of the 30 Maya sites found there. It is the only excavated archaeological site on the island, and was built to honor Ixchel, the goddess of fertility.
Of Interest:	A network of sacbés connected the site with the island's East Coast and with nearby coves where canoes were put ashore.
